Rubellite Tourmaline - 15.0 Carats - Malkhan, Russia

The diverse Rubellite colors coming out of this region in Malkhan make these gemstones truly special. The material I work with comes from two mining regions and two different miners.

In the photo with the map of the Malkhan Region, you will see a location marked No. 4 and No. 6.

No.6 is Sosedka Mine known to produce cherry red tourmaline as well as purple (both belonging to Elbaite group var. Rubellite). Some of the most valuable cherry red and purple gems were found here in the 80s.

No. 4 is where this particular piece comes from. The name of this mine is Oktabrskaya. This region is famous for the raspberry red and hot pinks.
